The conference will offer four topical tracks, or streams. Our four streams
are: Each stream will provide a plenary session that will be attended by all conference participants. The rest of the schedule offers a stream of workshops and activities to meet our individual and collective needs. Conference attendees may keep to their own stream or move to workshops in other streams that widen their perspective and network. The conference will end with a main session featuring a facilitator who will help us appreciate and understand how our efforts connect internationally and tie our lives together. The stream on aging is spearheaded by HPGS, the energetic Hawaii Pacific Gerontological Society, and joined by other aging and intergenerational interests. They have selected the following theme for their stream: “Leaving a Legacy: Re-creating our Life and Work.” Six Billion Paths to Peace, a Shinnyo-En Foundation initiative, will address how individual acts of compassion by the 6 billion residents of our world will individually and collectively move us to peace. Marilyn Shigetani of FEMA’s Pacific Region IX, has formulated an International Volunteerism in Disaster Response and Recovery program that will help us create our own viable programs and also connect with an international network.
